CRITICAL THINKER
I’m İrem — a UI/UX designer, ceramic artist, and handpan musician with a background in engineering. I started my career in R&D after graduating as a materials engineer. Over time, I felt the need to create in a way that’s more human, emotional, and intuitive — which led me to the world of design.
My work brings together the structure of engineering, the flow of music, and the tactility of ceramics. These disciplines shape how I approach design: always with attention to rhythm, form, and emotion.
At the heart of my process is user-centered design. I believe good design starts with empathy, research, and a deep understanding of human needs. Interfaces should be not only visually engaging, but also accessible, functional, and intuitive.
Drawing inspiration from philosophy, I use logic as a tool to build clear, effective experiences — while staying open to emotion, beauty, and connection. As Aristotle emphasized deductive reasoning, I strive to make intentional choices in every layer of design. And like Plato, I seek a balance between form and function — believing that aesthetics and usability should never be at odds.
For me, design is not just problem-solving — it’s crafting meaningful experiences that quietly improve daily life.
